Yemen on brink of ‘world’s worst famine in 100 years’ if war continues
Since March 2015 deadly clashes and airstrikes in Yemen have forced over 3.1 million people to flee their home, and killing over 6,700 people and injuring over 33,000. The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate with fuel shortages, rising food prices and a severe lack of basic services making daily survival a painful struggle.
Today Yemen could be facing the worst famine in 100 years if airstrikes by the Saudi-led coalition are not halted, the UN has warned.
If war continues, famine could engulf the country in the next three months, with 12 to 13 million civilians at risk of starvation according to humanitarian agencies in Yemen.
